Frequently Asked Questions

Biohazard

Q1: When would I need to use your biohazard services?

A1:  After a traumatic event occurs involving someone passing away, the police, fire department, medical examiner, and mortician are only responsible for their investigation and removal of the body.  Any blood, bodily fluids, fingerprint dust, luminol or aftermath of any kind is left for the property owner to deal with.  Not only does cleaning the scene produce further trauma to loved ones, but it can be potentially dangerous as diseases like hepatitis and M.R.S.A. (Staph Infection) can live outside the body for as long as several weeks.

If you have biohazardous materials that must be handled, then give us a call at (888) 577-7206

Q2: What is your typical response time?

A2:   You can call us 24/7/365 at (888) 577-7206 for any kind of emergency biohazard remediation.  There are STERI-CLEAN® technicians located at strategic key points all throughout Missouri, and our typical response time for most situations is within 2-4 hours of receiving the call.  The time may be greater if the request is made on a holiday or late at night.

Q3: Will my homeowners insurance cover the cost of a biohazard cleanup?

A3: Situations involving hazardous materials are always unique, and we cannot guarantee your coverage.  That being said we’ve found that in most circumstances the insurance will cover the price of our services.  We will directly work with your insurance carrier, and you will only be responsible for your deductible.

Q4: Are there laws you must abide by when cleaning up biohazardous materials?

A4: While crime scene cleanup is not federally regulated, there are standards, guidelines, and regulations which we adhere to.

Every time we cleanup biohazardous materials, we utilize PPE (personal protective equipment) and we use a blood/biohazard illuminator to assure we have fully removed any waste materials.

Q5: What is STERI-CLEAN®’s cleanup process?  How do you ensure the area is free of all biohazard materials?

A5: STERI-CLEAN® utilizes hospital-grade chemicals to completely sterilize the affected area and denature the pathogens involved.  We remove all biohazardous materials from the area involved, disinfect, and deodorize to ensure there is no possibility of cross contamination.

Hoarding

Q1: What exactly is hoarding?

A1: Hoarding is the excessive collecting of personal items, trash, animals, books, food, and/or more without being able to throw anything out. Eventually the hoarder creates mounds of stuff only leaving small pathways to get by.  There may be futile attempts to clean parts of the area, but worthwhile headway is never made.

Q2:  Why should I use STERI-CLEAN® for a hoarding cleanup?

A2:  STERI-CLEAN®, Inc. is known throughout the United States for their caring, professional, and affordable hoarding cleanup services. Unlike companies that specialize in junk hauling, trash outs, and debris removal, STERI-CLEAN®’S. employees are trained in the hoarding disorder. Each STERI-CLEAN® team member attends training which includes the psychology behind the disorder, triggers which cause people to hoard, and how to make the most progress while working with people that struggle with the hoarding disorder. We don’t simply come in and throw out a person’s belongings! We take a customized approach to each individual customer, to make sure we have the plan for them.

By fully understanding the road map of how each of our clients have gotten to the place we found them, we can help reverse them back to a normal, clutter free life. There are many layers to the hoarding disorder and hoarding cleanup is just one small part of helping them achieve and maintain a clutter free life. We bring together all of the pieces of the puzzle, while building trust and maintaining it through the time we are helping our clients.

Q3:  I have valuables/important papers in my home, will STERI-CLEAN® simply throw these out?

A3:  STERI-CLEAN® technicians are trained to keep an eye out for any kind of important documents/valuables and to set these aside for inspection by the homeowner. STERI-CLEAN® has recovered jewelry, gems, precious metals, vital documents, medical equipment, cash, and more for our previous clientele.

Q4:  What steps should I take to get a free estimate online/over the phone?

A4:  Option One:  Call (888) 577-7206 to schedule your estimate.  It is better to have a STERI-CLEAN® estimator onsite to assess the home rather than through pictures.

Option Two: If having an estimator onsite isn’t an option, then take photographs of the home or property we will be cleaning.  Take two photographs of each bedroom, dining room, living area, patio, garage, or storage unit you would like addressed.  Take the photo from the doorway or as far back as you can.  The first photograph should be from the left wall to the center of the room, the second photograph from the center of the room to the right-hand wall.  The more living area you capture with your lens, the better perspective we can have.  Post these pictures to http://www.hoarders.com/estimates.php

Q5: What is your typical response time for a hoarding cleanup inquiry?

A5:   You can call us 24/7/365 at (888) 577-7206 for any kind of hoarding cleanup service.  There are STERI-CLEAN® technicians located at strategic key points all throughout Missouri, and our typical response time for most situations is within 2-4 hours of receiving the call.  The time may be greater if the request is made on a holiday or late at night.

While every project is unique, we will provide a FREE Estimate for hoarding homes, either in person or after the appropriate pictures have been sent over (see question 4 above).
